Signs and Symptoms of PTSD & Trauma

There are many responses to trauma and different signs and symptoms of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). The thing to remember is that people are individuals and will respond differently.
 

Below are some common symptoms of PTSD
(Post Traumatic Stress Disorder):

  • Feeling numb and empty

  • Feeling disassociated

  • Feeling isolated

  • Suicidal feelings

  • Self-destructive tendencies

  • Problems at work

  • Problems in relationships

  • Avoiding people and places

  • Anxiety and/or panic attacks

   •  Being easily moved to tears

  • Frequent withdrawal into yourself

  • Nightmares and/or flashbacks

  • Insomnia

  • Anger and aggression

  • Feeling distrustful and suspicious

  • Misusing drugs, alcohol and/or food

  • Seeking out high-risk, dangerous pursuits

  • Mood Swings or depression
